Holly and Nic 100km run
About
Hiiii friends welcome to another one of our crazy attempts at doing things that feel impossible. We have done a few things in the past, like deciding last minute one day to run a marathon off no training with no water or gels. Or climbing mountains in ice and snow, unequipped, with no directions and weather warnings. Despite our terrible desire for chasing highs, this one means a lot to us.
This year marks 10 years since my family and I lost my sister to suicide at 13 years of age and so, to advocate for suicide prevention, teenage mental health and just open, honest conversations about how we are feeling - Nic and I will run 100km on the 27th May.
We will be fundraising for the @mollyrosefoundation - a small charity that was founded by a family after the loss of their daughter to suicide. They share a lot of similar values as myself and Nic in relation to youth mental health and as a small charity any amount anybody can give will mean a whole lot.
Nic and I are so appreciative of anything anybody can give and we would love for people to come along on the day, even run some kilometres with us or just generally come spread some joy and motivation! We will post a route nearer the time but intend to run a 10km loop x10 so it is easy for people to jump in and out / feed us plz.
I really hope that every person this post manages to reach, knows they have a safe person to talk to about how you are feeling - whether it be Nic or I, a stranger on the internet, a friend, family, healthcare professional; anyone. Mental health is so so important and being a listening ear to someone can make the world of a difference. Never be scared to share your feelings, you are never too much and there are always options.
Love to you allll and to everyone who contributes in donation or in motivation on this crazy journey over the next few months. My runs currently average about 8km a go and Nic is practically a broken body walking - for context on how we will manage this, seems like a May problem to me
