Marathon Carneage
About
Five members of Carne's London office have taken on the brave challenge of participating in the London Marathon, taking place 26/4/26.
Eoin O'Brien, Malachy Fahey, Miles Garzke, Cian Stack Crotty and Paul Rodger will be supporting the Molly Rose Foundation, which is a charity set up following the tragic loss of 14 year old Molly Russell in 2017, with the aim of suicide prevention, targeted towards young people under the age of 25.
The Molly Rose Foundation wants to help reach those at risk of suicide and connect them to the help, support, and practical advice they need. Annually in the UK around 6000 people lose their life to suicide, with young people under the age of 25 making up approximately 10% of this number. Since 2007 there has been a general increase in the UK rate of suicide and the Mental Health Foundation estimates that one person in fifteen will have made a suicide attempt at some point in their life.
It is the charity's belief that suicide can be prevented by raising awareness in the general public and by teaching children to speak more openly about their feelings and that it is OK not to be OK, by targeting the following three areas:
- Working primarily in schools, they provide training in youth mental health, first aid and encourage wider conversations about wellbeing and good mental health in the school community.
- They aim to connect young people who are struggling to the support they need and to steer them away from the unhelpful and dangerous content that is available online.
- They engage with government, regulators and other charities to raise awareness about online harms and help to develop policies encouraging online safety.
We really appreciate any support you are able to provide and thank you for your kind donation.
